You can drive traffic to your blog multiple ways. Here are the major four:
- Social media
- Guest posting
- Referral Traffic
- Search Engines
The simplest way to drive traffic to your blog is through social media. You can start by sharing your blog posts on the social networks you are most active on. With FacebookNew Facebook Timeline. Next, be sure you display one or two social profiles on your blog, so your readers can follow you. Most importantly, actively engage with your readers via social media. The intention is to build a presence.
Guest posting is when you publish a blog post of your own on another person’s blog. Guest posting exposes you to the exact readership you want for your blog – people who are reading blogs similar to your own. To quickly grow your blog, you should find blogs that promote guest posting and guest post at least once a week.
Referral traffic is traffic coming from other websites. You can easily get referral traffic by commenting on other people’s blogs within your own niche, participating in forums, writing articles for sites, encouraging readers to share your content, linking to it, and more.
Search engines are the ultimate traffic source. To start generating search engine traffic you need to optimize your blog posts to rank for keywords.
2. Creating Community
Community is undoubtedly the most important component of a highly successful blog. WhyMotivation In Network Marketing: Why Your Greatest WHY Matters. Read more ... »? How do you build community? You build community by building an email list and encouraging readers to return regularly to your blog. If you want to build a community fast, build a list of loyal readers who actively engage with your content.
3. Generating An Income
Driving traffic is pretty basic. It requires hard work, patience, a lot of time, and often money. Building a community is far more difficult because people are always skeptical at first, so their trust needs to be earned. Generating an income is really the easy part. Once you have your reader’s trust, you can sell them anything. It’s as simple as creating an information product, having a sales page written, and putting it online.
There are other ways you can monetize your blog. You can monetize your blog via sponsored ads, Adsense, AmazonYour Wish Is Your Command: 'The Secret' on Steroids?. Read more ... », affiliate products, the list goes on. But if you really get it right, if you really build a community…

Great post Juli. Blogging can be lucrative, but it isn’t easy to make money. It takes time, discipline, persistence and a solid game plan. The internet is flooded with abandoned blogs that haven’t been updated in years because the blogger gave up to soon. Like anything in life, you get out what you put in. Thanks for sharing.

Charles,
You are right. Blogging is not a get rich quick scheme. That’s for sure. For those who are dedicated to adding value and changing people’s lives for the better, blogging is a valuable tool. It is also a great platform to promote affiliate products.
It won’t be until a marketer has gained enough knowledge about what it takes to make money online that a breakthrough will occur. Usually creating a product that pays 100% commission will create that breakthrough that most online marketers are looking for.
Of course, if someone is interested in getting the best of both worlds: 100% commission AND blogging, then they should join Empower Network.

This is a great information Juli! I do agree with you, Since more and more internet users or bloggers are focusing to make money online. We also need to remember that we must not always focus on making money but we also need to help our clients in their needs. Blogging is not just a money making system but it is a way to create a community that teach, to learn and to make others happy.

I agree, Chanikacha. Blogging does not always need to be a way to make money. In fact, I know a lot of bloggers who use blogging as a way to journal about their personal life experiences. This is a wonderful way to develop the know, like, and trust factor that we are all aiming to achieve.
Since I understand that there are some who do not equate money with happiness, I respect those who have the time to blog just for fun. I love reading these authors! I, for one, however, have the more challenging goal in mind to free myself from the drudgery of a full time J.O.B., so I hope by teaching others to make money through blogging that I can help others become free as well. To me (and I think to a lot of others), freedom equals happiness. Hope that makes sense!
