Marketing Ideas For Your Small Business

Marketing Ideas For Your Small Business

Looking for marketing ideas for your small business?

Small businesses are going under by the dozen daily in this tough economy.

The sad fact is that small mom and pop shops will continue to go out of business as outlets like Walmart and Target continue to tough it out for market domination by offering ludicrously low prices on everything from clothing to electronics to food. People who have a bricks and mortar business have a battle on their hands, especially if they sell anything sold by these giant chains.

When small businesses become a victim of this impossible competition, people lose their livelihoods and communities lose irreplaceable resources.

So how is a small business to stay afloat in these hard times?

Here are several free or low cost marketing ideas for your small business.

Marketing Ideas For Your Small Business

Since small businesses are the spine of our communities, many people prefer to go shopping at small neighborhood suppliers in an effort to show support for the local entrepreneur. This is because small business owners tend to be extremely knowledgeable about their products compared to large chains, where a customer is less likely to get the help they need.

Marketing Ideas For Your Small BusinessIn order to promote a product successfully, as a small business owner, you will need to be an expert at what you do and provide the best customer service available to attract and keep customers. When considering marketing ideas for your small business, keep in mind that experience, uniqueness, and customer service are the three main things that will attract people to you.

Online Marketing Ideas For Your Small Business

If you have a highly specialised business, you may want to take advantage of the fact that Google is doing everything they can to encourage small businesses like yours to go online with a highly specialized website or blog.

Small local businesses should have a site with a brief description of what they offer, what they are skilled in doing, a map to where they’re located, office hours, contact numbers, and an email address.

A small local business blog built on WordPress.org can operate in such a way that customers can ask questions about products and services, which could cut back on in-going phone calls that usually come when making an attempt to deal with other shoppers. This lower cost selling solution can bring in lots of new shoppers that may draw people into your store.

For a small fee you can be listed in local directories, your local Chamber of Commerce, and on Angie’s list. This may add up to more visibility and less advertising dollars than any costly magazine or weekly paper ad… and do not forget mobile web access.

Offering Inexpensive Website Creation And Maintenance For Small Local Businesses Has Become A Home-Based Industry In Itself

Many small business owners are sometimes mistakenly convinced that beginning and maintaining a website will cost them a lot of money and that it’s hard to do.

Marketing Ideas For Your Small Business

It’s true that online businesses have a much tougher time getting themselves to the top of the search engines. They have to deal with back linking, article writing, SEO (search engine optimization).  And there are many other selling methods they must employ to be successful.

Your Internet site can immediately become number one on the search engines, when someone searches for your city and specialized service. By offering an opt-in box, a small business owner can build a list from their online website and then offer discounts to those customers by initiating promotional campaigns. Successful use of income-producing Google Adwords and affiliate advertising on your site can be an added benefit.

It is all about attraction marketing and getting business back to the way that they should be: unique, helpful, and informed businesses with excellent customer service creating an enjoyable shopping experience for all who walk through the door.

Hi Juli!! You’re soooo right. You know there are about 5 or 6 little stores in my neighborhood alone that have fallen victim to bigger chains – and it’s soo sad because everyone knows the owners personally. It really is crazy how these big chain stores AND restaurants can single-handedly wipe out the smaller guys. You’ve offered a few good tips for these little guys to heed. Attraction marketing and alternative marketing techniques can really help out these people, but in the long term I think these family owned shops should take a look at NETWORK MARKETING!

Thanks for giving me an idea!! haha :) Love your posts. Keep them coming!!

      Bushan,

I think Google is definitely creating potential for small businesses to become successful online. There are so many opportunities for those with an entrepreneurial mindset to find a niche and run with it.

I personally think it is sad that the big box stores are taking over America and would love to see more and more people quit their jobs and break free from the 9 to 5 grind.

Hopefully this post will help small business owners and employees who want to be a business owner realize that success can be found in the online world.
