In December, 2011, “Hitwise” listed Pinterest as one of the Web’s Top 10, and “Time” listed it as a Top 5 social network of 2011. “ComScore” also reports that as of January, 2012, Pinterest had almost 11.7 million users, which is double what it had in November 2011.
Who Uses Pinterest?
- 87% female ranging in age from 25 to 54
- 28% of users have household income of $100k+
- 37% has individual income ranging from $25k to $49k
- 33% has individual income ranging from $50k to $75k
- Style, home décor, weddings and food are the most popular pinning categories
- 15.8 minutes is the average time spent on the site (YouTube 16.4 minutes & Facebook 12.1 minutes)
- 50% of Pinterest users have kids
- Pinterest is generating more referral traffic to websites than YouTube, Google+, and LinkedIn combined!
